Canadian VS Russian education

Hey everyone,

My Russian friends ask me about my Canadian life all the time. Ask me about everything: people, food, lifestyle. Recently, I got requests to tell and moreover show about my study, compare study in both countries.I thing you, my Canadians readers, might be interested too. So here's my boring talk.

First of all, let's be clear. I don't have post-secondary experience in Russia fortunately maybe.
I know some about, but I know about universities in Russia. I think it's not really fair to compare university and college. I believe it's very different.

It sometimes feels like my high school was way harder.
Here's a thing, I had 18 different classes in high school. At Humber, I have 6. Sounds crazy, but I realized that I just have classes that I would need in my work field. Russian students can't choose schedule. We have history, math, chemistry, physics, biology, literature, Russian,  PE, plus 4 computer classes my school was advanced and I can continue for ever. All of the classes are mandatory. In college, I have only things I have to focus for my career. I assume that students in Russia don't have all variety of classes in University. So this is only my experience of Russian high school and Canadian college.

I have way more spare time studying in college. Therefore, I want to have a part-time job. Canadian colleges have bunch on-campus job. I really appreciate it and I found it a huge advantage. I've never heard about it in Russia.

Jeez, I got really mad with this post. I think it's a big talk and not really for this blog. I have million thoughts in my mind that can't be organized and explained clearly.
